The evidence based Hip Protection System More than 70,000 people each year sustain a hip fracture, with around 14,000 deaths occurring as a result. Of those people suffering a hip fracture, 20% of elderly people will die with 6 months, 50% will never regain their previous
independence and many will require some form of residential care.
The monetary cost of hip fractures is also enormous and expected to rise significantly over the next few years. The cost to the NHS for each hip fracture is estimated to be about £12,300.
Not all hip protectors are the same There are many designs for hip protectors - they are not all the same - and only a few of them have ever been proven to work in randomised clinical trials.
Reference: RoSPA, Staying Alive, Summer 2004, The hip protectors in Safehip are proven in protecting against hip fractures in elderly people.
Use hip protectors that have hard evidence that they work Not only do you need evidence
that people will wear a particular type of hip protector, you also need hard evidence that they work.
Reference: SDMA Hip Protector Standard group.
Safehip has gained a significant amount of evidence in randomised controlled clinical trials to show that its hard protectors can actually work in practice - including trials published in the Lancet and the BMJ.

Use hip protectors that keep on working
• Hip protectors must keep on working,
fall after fall.
• The hard hip protectors in Safehip are
designed to provide protection for the
lifetime of the product.
• Safehip hard hip protectors are particularly hard wearing and resistant to damage in use. All Safehip Hip Protectors are CE marked as Class 1 Medical Devices.
Use hip protectors designed for comfort
The hip protectors in Safehip are designed
for comfort. They are anatomically shaped
and fully cushioned to make sure of
comfort in use.
Safehip is proven to be effective in the
prevention of hip fractures in the elderly.
It is a CE marked medical device - therefore
the leading hip protection system.
In a fall, Safehip spreads and disperses the
impact away from the hip joint and into
the surrounding tissues, which are far more
able to take the impact.
By significantly reducing the risk of hip
fractures, Safehip can:
• Prevent hospitalisation and
subsequent disability.
• Save fallers from the trauma, pain
and disability of a broken hip.
• Improve patient confidence and
quality of life.

New brochures for continence wear
At long last we have found some time to get the new brochures typed up. We found clients often only wanted to see sections relevent to themselves and not a brochure with first aid kits in, or alternatively they don't have continence issues and only want healthcare products.
So now we have three different brochures, plus the normal one that is at the printers.
Phones have been busy again, seems to be in cycles, some week are mad and others are quiet.
Postal rates are due to go up again, which means we have to find a fair way of adding them to the prices.
The new Vlesi pull up disposable pants have proved to be more popular than we thought, and we are constantly having to order new stock. We think its because they look like normal pants, but are softer and more comfortable to wear than a pad in pants.
